Glasner’s Farewell Tour: Palace vs Rayo

Oliver Glasner might be out of a job by next week.

He wants to go out with a trophy. Crystal Palace face Rayo Vallecano on Wednesday, May 27, for the UEFA Europa Conference League final it is the biggest game of the Eagles season and arguably Glasner’s final match as manager. He could lead South London to their first-ever European title. Or he could just walk away with another hollow “almost.”

Silverware for the second straight year? That is the goal.

Rayo Vallecano hasn’t done this before either. Neither have the Palace fans, really, on this stage. The Spaniards, affectionately called Los Franjirrojos, had a messy year. Iñigo Pérez got his team eighth in La Liga amidst screaming matches between the owner and the supporters. Chaos on and off the pitch. But they made it to the end. Palace is looking for glory. Rayo is just happy to be here.

It happens at the Red Bull Arena in Germany. Kickoff is 9 p.m. local time. If you are in the UK, that is 8 p.m. For those on the east coast of the US, start setting alarms for 3 p.m. The west coast folks can sleep in a bit until 12 p.m. Australia has to suffer at 5 a.m. on Thursday morning.

Where to stream the drama

The US

You need Paramount Plus. They hold the exclusive rights. No cable? Doesn’t matter. The stream lives there. It is clean and straightforward.

What about travelers?

Some folks grab a VPN. It encrypts traffic, yes, and keeps prying ISPs away from your data speeds. Useful for public Wi-Fi, sure. But be careful. Streaming platforms have eyes. Some will block you if they see you faking your location. Check the terms before you click connect. You do not want to lose your subscription because you tried to game the system. Just a word to the wise.

The UK

TNT Sports has the feed. This is the catch-all for UK soccer finals right now. They are also showing the Champions League final later this month.

Bad news for non-subscribers though.

There are no free-to-air broadcasts this year. If you want to watch Glasner’s last stand in London, you have to pay up on TNT Sports 1. The wallet stays shut unless you already have an account.

Canada

Head to DAZN. That is your one-stop shop for the match. They picked up the exclusive rights again. The Champions League final on Saturday also lands there, so it is worth looking at a bundle if you plan to watch all week.

Australia

Down Under means Stan Sport. They have locked down the rights for the tournament once again. If you like football here, you already know who to call.

So who wins?

Palace is on an emotional crest. Glasner riding a tiger off the cliff, metaphorically speaking. Rayo has that gritty Spanish stubbornness that chokes bigger opponents in cup finals. It never goes to the favorites, does it?

We will know Wednesday night. The screens will be on. The bets will be placed. The noise will rise from Leipzig.
