Apple wants Siri to host your party

Apple is positioning its updated AI as the ultimate party planner. A bold claim, sure. But for anyone who freezes when faced with the logistics of hosting, it’s appealing.

At the Worldwide Developers Conference, the company revealed an upgraded Apple Intelligence. It’s got help from Google’s Gemini models now. The goal? To help you brainstorm. To act across different apps. To answer questions that need to know your history or check what’s happening online right this second.

Launching in English later this year, this version of Siri gets its own dedicated app. It works on every compatible device. Start a chat on your iPhone. Keep going on your iPad. It doesn’t stop there though. It jumps into Messages and Reminders too. Acts like a personal assistant. Or at least, tries to.

Did you see the demo? Justin Titi, a senior director at Apple, asked for the World Cup opening weekend schedule. Siri didn’t just list times. It suggested Brazilian and Moroccan dishes for a watch party. Found a dessert recipe the presenter’s daughter mentioned in a text last week. Compiled the whole menu. Sent an invite to a specific group chat. All in one flow.

Imagine that level of ease.

It strips away the boring bits. Tells you when things are happening. Gives menu ideas. Searches your own data to answer the personal stuff. Even handles the invites. Speaking of invites, Image Playground got an upgrade. It uses Apple Intelligence to change your pictures.

The key detail? Private cloud compute. Images aren’t stored. They aren’t shared.

Leslie Ikemoto walked through a simple test. Take a photo of a friend. Ask the AI to add a birthday cake. It does. You can get more specific. Add candles. Change the friend’s outfit to match a theme. Just type it out or touch the screen. No design degree needed.

Some people hate making invites. I definitely count myself among them. Apple Intelligence removes that guesswork. You save time. Maybe enough to actually cook the food?

“Focus on the fun parts,” the logic goes.

From writing the text message to editing the calendar invite, the AI handles the minutiae. Every step. Context aware.

It’s happening this fall. If avoiding the frustration of planning sounds good to you? Well, I’ll be there. Waiting for it to work. 🎉
