Waiting for the next 360 camera? You’re almost there.
FCC documents show the Insta360 X6 (model code CINSABXA ) got its seal of approval on July 3. That’s it. No more hiding.
The launch is practically unavoidable. Probably early fall. Insta360 hasn’t pinned down a specific date, but the clock says August or September. History supports this. Certifications don’t last long without a product launch.
So, what are you buying?
Specs are still fuzzy, mostly based on leaks rather than hard facts, but the improvements look real. The biggest jump is video resolution. You’ll get 8K video at 60fps. The old X5 maxed out at 30fps for 8K. This is a massive upgrade. Sixty frames make a difference in motion.
There’s also 10-bit color support. Bigger sensors help, too. Low-light performance should finally stop looking like a grainy mess.
How much will it hurt?
Pricing hasn’t been announced either, but whispers point to a range between $549 and $569. Steep? Maybe. Expected? Definitely.
Insta360 is building momentum beyond just 360 shots, though they haven’t abandoned their bread and butter.
The company released the Luna Ultra gimbal camera recently. It competes directly with DJI. Still, the 360 lineup is what they are famous for.
Here’s the thing that frustrated people. April usually means a new X-series release. The X5 came out in April 2024 (and the article’s timeline implies a recent April launch pattern, noting the X4 the April before). Wait. The article says the X5 launched in April 2021. Ah.
But April 2022? Nothing. The expected launch vanished. Customers got worried. Had they stalled? Was the tech too hard to perfect?
Now the silence is broken.
The X6 isn’t stuck in a lab anymore. It’s coming in weeks. You just have to wait.
