Need the answers? They are below. No point guessing randomly, honestly. The puzzle for June 1 was a grind. Some answers just refuse to unscramble themselves in your head. If you’re stuck, read on.

Check our main page if you want the Wordle, Connections, or Mini Crossword help too. This guide focuses only on Strands.

Today’s theme: Shall we gather for lunch?

If that hint feels like smoke, here is the real clue. You’ll find these items in the woods.

Getting Hints to Appear

The game hides the theme words until you prove you can read. How? Find any words first. Any valid words with four or more letters. Get three of them, and the system reveals a theme answer.

Stuck on that too? I used these to unlock the hints. Feel free to copy-paste your way out of hell:

  • BAKE
  • BAKERY
  • CAKE
  • PRAM
  • MORE
  • CONE
  • CONEY
  • RIOT
  • TUNE
  • TUNES

The Answers

The goal is clear. Find every word. When you do, the whole grid fills. Every letter must be used. The theme words connect the logic. The non-theme words, the spangram included, complete the puzzle.

Here are the theme answers that fit together:

MOREL, NETTLE, CHICORY, BLACKBERRY, CHESTNUT. And RAMP.

The Spangram

The long word. It spans the board from side to side. The answer is FORAGING.

Start at the F. It is three letters down on the left edge. Wind across from there.

When Strands Gets Mean

Some days are just hard. Others are impossible. Here are the toughest themes I have faced so far.

  1. Dated Slang. If you weren’t cool in the 90s, you lost. Toughest word: PHAT.
  2. Whale Talk. Marine biologists win here. Toughest words: BALEEN, RIGHT.

Why does the grid sometimes feel rigged?

No one knows. Maybe just play it again tomorrow.
