Google is rolling out a new AI-powered feature that aims to solve a common workplace headache: the endless back-and-forth of finding a meeting time. The tool, called “Help me schedule,” uses Google’s Gemini AI to suggest optimal meeting slots directly within Gmail and Google Calendar.
How It Works
The feature automatically appears when you’re drafting an email with someone outside your organization, even if you don’t have access to their calendar. When you click the “Help me schedule” button, Gemini analyzes your availability and the context of the email to propose several suitable time slots.
For example, if someone asks for a 30-minute meeting next week, Gemini will present half-hour blocks that fit your schedule. You can adjust these suggestions before sending them in your email. Once the recipient confirms, the meeting is automatically added to both calendars.
Why This Matters
This feature addresses a real productivity bottleneck. Traditional scheduling tools like shared links often require multiple steps and rely on the recipient to actively check availability. This AI-driven approach streamlines the process, especially for quick, one-on-one meetings. The tool is designed for efficiency, not for large group coordination.
Google’s move also highlights its broader strategy to integrate Gemini into daily workflows, making AI a more central part of how people work and communicate. The company has been aggressively adding AI capabilities across its products, and this scheduling tool is the latest example.
This update shows that Google isn’t just talking about AI – it’s actively embedding it into essential productivity tools to save users time and effort.
The “Help me schedule” feature launches Tuesday. For users drowning in scheduling conflicts, this could mean a lot less wasted time.
